Privacy Policy

This policy explains how MealCub collects, uses, and protects your information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, including:

  • Account information (email address, password)
  • Household and family member details you enter (names, ages, dietary preferences, health goals)
  • Grocery preferences and order history
  • Push notification tokens (to send meal plan notifications)

We also collect limited usage data automatically, including device type and app interactions, to improve the product.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Generate personalized weekly meal plans using AI
  • Send your grocery list to Instacart or Kroger when you request it
  • Send push notifications about your meal plan (only if you enable them)
  • Provide customer support and respond to enquiries
  • Improve and debug the app

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Data Sharing

We share your data only as necessary to deliver the service:

  • Our AI model provider — processes meal generation requests (ingredient names, dietary preferences). No names or contact details are sent.
  • Instacart / Kroger— receives your grocery list when you tap “Order”. Subject to their own privacy policies.
  • Our cloud database provider — securely hosts the database where your account data is stored.
  • Our error-monitoring provider — receives anonymised crash reports. No email, name, or IP address is included.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen in the app. Deletion permanently removes your profile, household, meal plans, and all associated data.

5. Security

Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using the platform's secure storage. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

6. Children's Privacy

MealCub is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Family member profiles (used for meal planning) may include age and dietary data for household members of any age, but this data is entered and controlled by the account holder.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt out of push notifications at any time via your device settings

To exercise these rights, delete your account from within the app, or contact us at the address below.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
